The Pelvic Floor Dysfunction Ultrasound Course, organized by Alta Formazione, was the first of its kind ever held in Italy
Among the participants were Laura Franco and Chiara Destro, two of the specialized physiotherapists from the Kinetic Center in Lugano.
The course, held in Santeramo in Colle (BA) on February 23–25, 2024, covered:
RUSI enables real-time visualization of perineal muscle activation and related soft tissues. This allows therapists to optimize therapeutic exercises with precision at every stage.
This method integrates Biofeedback (BFB)—a technique that monitors and communicates internal biological functions to the patient—helping both the therapist and the patient gain awareness and control over targeted muscle groups. This is particularly valuable for the pelvic-perineal region, which is often hard to engage consciously.
What Can Be Visualized with Ultrasound?
While not diagnostic (a role reserved for medical specialists), ultrasound in physiotherapy is a powerful evaluation and treatment tool. It allows therapists to see exactly what’s happening in the pelvic area and respond with targeted, evidence-based interventions.
Thanks to advanced training and ongoing professional development, our therapists at the Kinetic Center continue to deliver high-quality, scientifically grounded care to every patient.
